I know I'm inviting some Short Diary Scorn TM, but here's my Email to the USDA on the Shirley Sherrod issue.
Righteous anger and indignation all around.
I'm just venting.

Ms. Cook,
I was extremely disappointed at the news report identifying you as the individual who demanded Shirley Sherrod resign her post.
As an attorney I would think you above others would adhere to the concepts of a fair hearing and due process as a pillar of your public service management duties. And yet you apparently took an out of context remark and used it to force a career public servant from her position without any reasonable attempt at ascertaining the truth of the matter.
If there is any justice, Ms. Sherrod will be invited back to work and you will be sent to some much needed Human Resources training on responsible investigation techniques.
Shame on you.
Best regards in your future private endeavors,
