So a few friends of ours got together 5 years ago and got us a 2 night stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Harpers Ferry WV as a wedding gift. Nice little cozy place .5 miles from downtown. Problem, no TV, so I'm going to miss Formula 1 GP Sunday :-(. Good news I've TIVO'd it. So hears a question, if you tivo and watch it later does that add to their ratings? If not I'll just go to the website.
Back on topic, it's a cute little historic town. It was neat to see where and how the Appalachian trail comes into the town and continues it's merry way to Maine...or Georgia. Saw a bunch of hikers coming out and being a hiker/backpacker myself, no way my body would handle this. My body can't do heat, it just shuts down. Luckily we've asked the B&B people to crank it to meat locker comfort level (the wife says different.)
The problem is that it's really contained, there's not really much to see and what is left tells little visually from what it was like 150 years ago. (Maybe we're missing something?) It was interesting to hear of history about the civil war and just how much turmoil and seeing the horror of war on an important town was heartfelt but interesting. How the Confederates and the Union both sacked it MANY times because of it's location and armory. When John Brown sacked it and freed slaves, to how he was tried and hung for treason, to how the confederates won it back and back and forth.
I grew up in Saratoga Springs so the comparison of the different towns in the history department is quite large. Perhaps I guess i was expecting something along the way Saratoga presents.
Going tubing down the Shenandoah River tomorrow morning, can't wait especially in this heat. Or maybe I'll shack up and blog and send the Misses tubing.
Peace Out

P.S. I wish my database applications would send false alarms to me and I could just shut the whole mechanism down and pretend there wasn't a problem. I would never be fired for that. Unfucking real.
