Been a Sox fan since I was a youngster. That's the way I was brought up. We were all fans. When I was a young boy, we'd travel to Fenway Park in school buses for church trips. We'd sit in the bleachers and love it. I'm old enough to remember Teddy Ballgame late in his career. I was a big fan of Tony Conigliaro and remember sending get well cards to the hospital after he was hit by that fateful pitch.
So needless to say, the 2004 Red Sox will always be special to me. When Curt Schilling came to end the "curse", I rejoiced. The comeback against the Yankees, the "bloody sock", all the memories bring a smile to my face.
But then there's Curt Schilling the political animal.
Got to love the nerve of this guy. Big time conservative. McCain supporter. Palin supporter. A small government supporter, who pulls his business from Massachusetts because RI guarantees $75 million in loans for his company and Massachusetts wouldn't. Just goes to show once again how conservatives are against government hand-outs, unless they're for them! Sure, conservatives have core beliefs. They believe life begins at conception and ends at birth. They are pro-life but love the death penalty. They hate government intervention, unless it is personal. They believe in balanced budgets but have never balanced one. The list can go on and on.
Curt Schilling. Loved him as a Red Sox. Hate his politics.
Yeah, Curt Schilling. Just another phony Republican.
