Me, I was born and raised down here. It does my heart good to see folks stepping up and helping out. I see what it does for people, I see what it means, I see how it helps. Something felt deep in the bones and 'way up in the spirit. Alot of folks here on Daily Kos see that and feel that, too.
C'mon, there's a good thing to be done.
Hostingan event is easy, and we'll guide you through the process. From gathering a few friends in your home to having hundreds of people at a local theater, you're in control of your screening. Once you sign up, we'll follow up with more instructions, materials, support, and all the tools you'll need to make it a success. To begin, you'll have our easy-to-use e-vite system to invite your friends and family over for the gathering. They'll be conference calls to discuss steps to take, and a GRN rep will always be available to answer any questions. Then, a few days before your party, we'll send a package with the DVD, talking points, step-by-step instructions, and tons of other materials and goodies.
Please sign up below to host a movie screening to help us sound the urgent call for a national commitment to restoring the Gulf.
Like I wrote, this one is easy, folks.
I know some of the GRN folks that are organizing this. I've worked with them before. They are good people.
Right now, we're exactly half way to our goal of 200 events!
Media attention focused on BP's drilling disaster may be waning, but the oil and its impacts are still greatly affecting the Gulf region. Late August/early September, right before Congress comes back from Labor Day recess, will be an important time to rally the support of your friends for the Gulf, and it's a good time to have a fun gathering. You can learn more and sign up to host here.
GRN is currently fighting hard in DC to make sure the public, and especially impacted communities, has a formalized way of overseeing the oil and gas industry in the Gulf. We're also pushing to make sure EPA and others figure out the long-term impacts of the unprecedented amount of dispersants used for this spill. The too-little-too-late tests about immediate toxic impacts of dispersants that they're doing now seem a bit like going to medical school after performing surgery.
You can help make sure the nation learns the lessons of BP's oil disaster and that the Gulf is restored by hosting a Defend the Gulf movie screening this August 29th. Please register to host today to help hit the goal of 200 events and build the national outcry for a healthy Gulf.

So. Host. Or attend. Please.
'Cause if you wanna know where the front lines are on this issue, look down. You're standing on it.
Defend the Gulf. On the anniversary of Katrina.
Cheers and best, folks.
