Tomorrow the Progressive Change Campaign Committee is helping to unleash something new in one of the districts of our endorsed candidates - the Phone Bomb!
Hundreds of volunteers will hit the phones at the same time for David Segal, progressive candidate in Rhode Island for Patrick Kennedy's open congressional seat. As a state representative, David has a record of real results, by passing legislation on everything from jobs to clean energy. We need an effective, progressive legislator like him in Congress.
But he's way behind in money, so he needs help getting his message to voters. And that's where the Phone Bomb comes in.
The way it works is simple. Hundreds of volunteers will get on the phones at the same time, and call through the targeted voter universe. Volunteers can call from home (you can sign up here to help!) as others call from the campaign headquarters. At the end of the day, we expect to have contacted thousands of voters - and ended the money advantage of David's opponents.
They may have money, but we have people power! The Phone Bomb is tomorrow, August 7. Sign up here to help.
In the recent fight against Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln, a few hundred progressives around the country made 60,000 phone calls in one day to local voters -- driving up turnout for Bill Halter.
The expected voter turnout in David Segal's primary next month is -- believe it or not -- around 60,000 voters. Want to help us win this one?
We already have over 60 PCCC members signed up to call from home -- can you help us get to 100? Sign up here to call from home tomorrow for David Segal.
Also, these phone calls will cost money. Please consider chipping in to help the campaign.
This is a new experiment, and we're excited to see the results. We'll be sure to report back on this new tactic for progressive campaigns.
