The Huffington Post report that Ann Coulter, rumored to be a regular on the West Hollywood gay bar scene, will host Homocom, and event for gay conservatives.
GOProud, a national organization representing gay conservatives, will sponsor an event this year billed as "Homocon" - a party to celebrate gay conservatives. The event will be hosted by Ann Coulter.
Christopher Barron, Chairman of the Board of GOProud, opines:
"The gay left has done their best to take all the fun out of politics, with their endless list of boycotts and protests. Homocon is going to be our annual effort to counter the 'no fun police' on the left."
And he continues:
"I can promise you, Homocon 2010 will be a hell of a lot more fun than chaining yourself to the White House fence,"
Recall that gay soldiers chained themselves to the White House gates earlier this year to protest Don't Ask Don't Tell.
The 49 year old never married Coulter, who has never been observed in a steady heterosexual relationship, and who is worshiped by anti-gay conservatives, has been reported to have been a regular in the West Hollywood gay bar scene over the past couple of years. Perhaps her hosting of this event is a means to gently come out. Who can say?
And although Coulter has a history of anti-gay rhetoric, recall that she called John Edwards a "faggot" and Constance McMillen an "irritating lesbian", note that a great many other closeted homosexual Republicans have done far worse.
But if nothing else, it will be hilarious to see how the bigots now railing against the overturning of Prop 8 react to this new gig by their heroine.
