I am SO pissed at the Obama administration, with all their "pragmatism" and "politics" right now! Makes me sick. The Obama Administration has been in office for less than two years...and already Robert Gibbs is complaining that we, the "professional left", are demanding too much of the President? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, he's been in office for almost 2 WHOLE YEARS!
And all we get is excuses.
Oh, the wars never-ending.
DADT is still around.
The economy is still mired in a recession.
We don't have universal healthcare.
Links above are snarky.
The list goes on and on and on.
AND WE HANDED IT TO HIM ON A SILVER PLATTER!
And Obama's had A WHOLE YEAR AND 8 MONTHS!
Ugh. Tired of this.
I guess they think they couldn't have done any better. I guess they think that this is the best they could do given the state of Washington. But that's the whole point. We didn't elect them to accept the Washington status quo as reality. We elected them to challenge and ultimately change that reality. And it seems like, on that count, they didn't even try. That's what we're so disappointed by.
OMG, U R sooo right! I like the tense you used as well, signifying that it's all over, there's no more hope, no more time to get anything done. That's like sooooo how it is.
So I propose:
SUICIDAL ONE-TERM PROGRESSIVE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE 2012!
Our glorious, suicidal one-term candidate will:
- Mostly ignore Congress, trying to get all changes done immediately through edicts, executive orders, and General Petraeus.
- When not ignoring Congress, ignore all moderate Senators, thereby ensuring they will NEVER vote for any of his administrations' proposals, and thereby rarely achieving even simple majority support.
- Ignore the media, except for Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. The WH press corps will consist of Cenk Uygur, FDL bloggers, and the "approved" DKos bloggers.
Now, I get that our new President will only have about 1 year before impeachment proceedings begin. I know they'll ACTUALLY have no chance of getting NEARLY as much done as the Obama Administration. Details. He/she'll be MY progressive candidate, will WALK THE LINE for me! And, despite zero progress and trashing the name of the Democratic Party for decades, I can sleep better at night, knowing I don't have to write ANOTHER angry diary tomorrow.
but i'll have to find some other line of work...
Anyway, keep up the fight!
