Having seen how terribly the Prop 8 ruling has threatened the very fabric of our United States, the RNC has now gone and done it.
RNC Committee member Kim Lehman has called for a revolution after the perceived tyranny of the Prop 8 ruling.
"I believe the proper response is to do what the founders did in the Declaration of Independence, that after many attempts to reason with the King of England with no success, decided to withdraw from England and its force of laws without representation — which they defined as tyranny," she said.
Lehman delivered her remarks in an interview with Iowan conservative radio host Steve Deace. Deace had called on Republican leaders to battle a ruling that would render the Constitution "obsolete." Lehman continued:
"We must reject the outlaw acts of judges who act outside the power of the people," she said. "Iowa is no different–we must be allowed to decide our laws and the courts have no jurisdiction over the will of the people nor does the federal government have the powers it is asserting against the states. We must educate the people of their God given liberties and the rule of law."
After the progress that the Iowa Supreme Court brought to human rights, the Christofascist conservatives were spiraling out of control. Now with the California ruling, they have begun to openly call for a new American revolution.
The idea that the Supreme Court must kertow to the masses has been covered relentlessly on this site for the last several weeks. It is simply preposterous. And when the conservatives don't get their way they react in the only way they know possible: stir up bigoted, racist sentiment.
I hope Ms. Lehman becomes the media sensation Shirley Sherrod did. But I doubt it. Meanwhile, Congressman Steve King flirted with her thoughts
"[We would] be very happy to take whatever steps, however bold, to reverse" the California ruling.
