Cost of Bush tax cuts
$1.8 trillion over 10 years.
Cost of Iraq and Afghanistan wars
$1.086 trillion up to this date
Increase in MIC budget since 2001
$1 trillion based on average $550 billion today versus $291 billion in 2000
Without going into the financial and economic ruin that Bush left and the subsequent loss of millions of jobs and social handouts to the richest; we have thrown away a further $4 trillion give or take the odd penny.
Is it not weird that is about the same amount as the increase in the deficit over the last 10 years when you include interest?
Some may argue the Bush years are over, well simple addition shows that they are not, and no matter how much conservatives squeal like stuck pigs we are reaping what they sowed.
Here we are with 2010 nearly 2/3 done still suffering from their misguided fiscal and foreign policies driven by a neo-con agenda. Why does it take us 8 years to get over what they have done before, first Reagan the patron saint of conservative stupidity; and then Bush junior the morans choice.
Yet still we hear the right proclaim loudly and without any basis in reality whatsoever that they somehow wont fuck up again even though their policies have not changed one iota in 30 years?
Just think what we could have achieved with that $4 trillion and the revenue generated by spending it wisely.
1] An infrastructure the envy of the world.
2] A new green industrial complex of such scientific splendor the world would be in awe.
3] An employed middle class and not close to 16% real unemployment
4] A more equitable society; yet we pillage the social security funds profits each year to pay for the richest amongst us.
5] A space program to boggle the mind generating a whole range of new inventions and materials to inspire a whole new boom in creativity, just as it did once before.
Medicare and social security would be in no danger if we all worked and the tax code was fairly balanced. We could even afford single payer health care if we were not too busy lending a helping hand to the elite; even though we helped them get there in the first place by the society we all created.
We fell into the trap of fear and rather than looking to the future we curled up and let ourselves be lead down the garden path. I see little fight coming from the Democratic Party and disaster could await in November if the Republicans once more fool over 50% to vote for them.
Can really that many Americans be that dumb?
Well we all know the answer to that question.
As a nation we have totally missed the golden opportunities going begging over the last decade, we have squandered our excellence in getting things done. We could have changed and brought hope, I don't know if we still can. Did we let a few bearded men on motorcycles ruin our future, were we really that weak?
Fear is not a motivator it causes paralysis and knee jerk reactions, the right wing feeds off this terror. When they howl about secession and scream about changing the constitution when they don't get their candy; I'm tempted to say let them go, we can do much better without them.
I so desperately want to dream again, shoot for the stars and do what is right, we should not bow to fear but have joy in our world, therefore I must go on believing:
Yes we can; and if the Republicans and their moronic wing the Tea Party don't like it, they can kiss my asp.

Well I must work and I will catch up later, the conversation seems to be going.
