Apparently Eric Prince of Xe/Blackwater fame has no interest in being investigated and questioned about the practices of his 'former' company and has jumped ship. According to local media, Prince has decided to forgo his US home to escape to Abu Dhabi, a country with no extradition treaties with the USA.
The story appears to have been broken in the New York Times which state
Current and former colleagues said Mr. Prince hoped to focus on security work from governments in Africa and the Middle East. They also said he was bitter about the legal scrutiny and negative publicity his company had received.
....
Over the past several years, Congress has also conducted a series of investigations of Blackwater’s activities in Iraq and Afghanistan, including an inquiry by the House Intelligence Committee into the company’s involvement in a proposed Central Intelligence Agency assassination program.
Earlier in June, Prince had complained about 'proctology' exams from the congress and needing to constantly explain the actions of Xe/Blackwater.
Considering the conservative bent of West Michigan including the entirety of the Focus on the Family founding money backers, the comments on the move by Prince to leave the US and go to a theocratic state to focus on security work for other countries is leaving quite an interesting comment stream on the mlive (local newspaper) website.
And considering the 'onward x-tian soldiers' point of view of the entire operation, it is fascinating to notice that he is putting down roots in a country where he is a minority.
