UPDATE: I can't seem to post a comment or reply. I'll try to get this fixed.
UPDATE II: I can't expand the comments either now. But my point is for a lot of you commenters that the President's team is not serving him well and he needs to make some drastic changes. I will vote for whoever the Democratic challenger is because the alternative is too dire but President Obama maybe leaving himself wide open for a challenger.
Excuse me but this is more of a rant than a diary. This country seems to be falling apart by the seams. It seems as though most everyone with a microphone, t.v. show, or newspaper column is running around with their heads cut off. What is worse is there does not seem to be a voice of reason to get everyone settled down. The economy is still very weak, people are still losing their homes, jobs are in very short supply, and other nations are beating us to the punch for those green jobs of the future. I believe our President wanted to be a transformational President. He has done a lot of good but what this country really needs is Bold leadership. HIS bold leadership. I believe it is in him to do but first he must FIRE ALL OF HIS ADVISORS!!!!
When the President was running for office I had the misfortune of being unemployed (and I still am) but it gave me an opportunity to follow and participate heavily in his campaign. One of the many speeches that left me breathless and in tears was the Jefferson/Jackson dinner in Iowa. He let me know he was the right man for the job at the dinner and I still believe that he is the President for this time. The entire speech was a barn burner but this part really grabbed me.
When I am this party’s nominee, my opponent will not be able to say that I voted for the war in Iraq ... And he will not be able to say that I waivered on something as fundamental as whether it is okay for America to torture because it is never okay. That's why I’m in it!
... I will lead the world to combat the common threats of the 21st century ... and I will send once more a message to those yearning faces beyond our shores that says you matter to us, your future is our future, and our moment is now. America, our moment is now.
Our moment is now!
I don't want to spend the next year or the next four years refighting the same fights that we had in the 1990s. I don’t want to pit red America against blue America. I want to be the President of the United States of America.
And if those Republicans come at me with the same fear-mongering and swift-boating that they usually do, then I will take them head-on. Because I believe the American people are tired of fear, and tired of distractions...we can make this election not about fear, but about the future, and that will not be just a Democratic victory, that will be an American victory, a victory that America needs right now!
I am not in this race to fulfill some longheld ambitions or because I believe it's somehow owed to me. I never expected to be here. I always knew this journey was improbable. I am running in this race because of of what Dr. King called "the fierce urgency of now." Because I believe that there’s such a thing as being too late, and that hour is almost upon us.
Quote starts approx. 13.02 minutes into video. Although the entire speech sent chills through me.
That is what it took to win an election his bold vision and leadership. This is also what it takes to run this country. And this is also what we need RIGHT NOW. I believe this to be the true person at heart. However, since taking office the rhetoric has often times not matched the action. I have to ask myself why?? Why do I feel like my voice has been drowned out by the lobbyist and the corruption? I believe it is his advisors giving him bad bad advice.
There has been glimpses of how his inner circle views his base. His Chief of Staff Rahm Emanual said we were "f@cking stupid" for fighting for what was promised by our President and wanting to get him the help he needed in congress to make these promises a realityThe Plum Line.
The Politico’s Jonathan Martin reported this morning that Rahm Emanuel warned leaders of liberal groups in a private meeting this week that it was time to stop running ads attacking Blue Dog and "centrist" Dems on health care.
I’m told, however, that Emanuel went quite a bit further than this.
Sources at the meeting tell me that Emanuel really teed off on the Dem-versus-Dem attacks, calling them "f–king stupid." This was a direct attack on some of the attendees in the room, who are running ads against Dems right now.
Was this another glimpse when Press Secretary Robert Gibbs vented to the "Professional Left" ?
This was the real President Obama. Strong and decisive:
This was the President most likely after discussions with his advisors. Not as strong and decisive:
I think Howard Dean was right when he said that the President's Advisors misjudged the political climate
This is just my opinion but the President's men/team is failing him and thus failing us. He needs to listen to his gut and fire his advisors.
