Here we are standing on the brink of a crisis greater than any war, and in itself may be the cause of the greatest conflict ever to be seen by man.
We are turning our oceans into a plastic soup and yet some still insist this is only a physical pollution yet they are also wrong.
We flood our oceans with oil every year let alone merely with the outrageous accidents in the Gulf of Mexico and the slow strangulation of the Niger Delta.
We continue to pollute the very water we drink and then spend billions of dollars and create additional pollution in cleaning it sufficiently for human consumption.
We pump green house gases into the air with unabated ferocity as if our own doom was something to look forward too, yet some still insist on burying their heads in the burning sand.
Our oceans are dying, our climate is changing and people are suffering.
We have been pillaged of our wealth by the financial maneuvering of the few whose short sightedness will leave us with a burnt out wreck and to pick up the pieces from their greed.
We need leaders who will stand up and be counted, tell the truth, and allow us to work together to solve the greatest challenge of human history, saving our own habitat.
What does it take before we are ready to look at the consequences of our actions.
1] Mass migrations
2] Global famine
3] Global climate driven catastrophes.
4] Global warfare
Can we really be this stupid?
Will it be only then that the status quo will be definitively broken, or will we merely drop into a dark age where ignorance and fanaticism will once again reign supreme?
Time is running out, we must chose which path we are going to follow it is our duty to leave behind a better world this gives meaning to our lives. The senseless bickering must stop, we need global leadership on this issue otherwise all that we have done will become irrelevant.
Where are the Leaders?
Have a great day, and do what you can; it starts with each of us.
Love
Alessandra.
Well I have to go to Bordeaux
See y'all Saturday.
Update:
I should learn not to make predictions, one metal grid, one broken heel and an ankle the size of a water melon later I'm back at home. Great this has put me in an even better mood, since I really loved those shoes.
Note:
The last line this morning is the important one it means we have to take personal responsibility. However leaders are also required it is them that inspire, a perfect example of how they can motivate a nation is Barack Obama's election against all the odds. Politicians get elected because they can deliver a message, many brilliant people tend to mumble hence are ignored.
