Larry Bailey’s quilt
Noor B was in a car accident – caused by a teenager on a cellphone. She has a herniated disk and is scheduled for surgery September 23. To add insult to injury, she is terrified about coverage for the treatment she needs – and without the surgery she will be disabled. But read the story in her own words:
Back of Larry Bailey’s quilt
At this point, I suppose everyone knows about the car wreck I was involved in this spring. The rear-end collision by the cellphone-yakking SUV-driving child? Yep, that one. Turns out I actually did have a serious injury, one that mere X-rays can't pick up.
A herniated disc. And that means a bundle of pinched nerves. So this is going to be really short and sweet, because even typing sets the arm on fire.
The surgeon looked at the MRI and said, "It's been over six weeks since the accident? You need surgery, it's not going to go away on its own anymore." And then he said something that made my heart fall: "You are going to be out from work until early December."
GASP........
Well, I had to tell my boss at my new job. Her response? "I need your resignation now."
So. Here I am, scheduled for surgery, with no job, a ton of the usual bills, and still unsure if the other party's insurer can be forced to play fair and cover this. But I have to do it, because if I do not, I won't be able to put in an 8-hour day ever again.
Can you tell how terrified I am???????

We can help Noor B with a "Love Catcher" quilt – a quilt incorporating messages of love and support from you. Leave your message in a comment below and I will transcribe it in archival ink for inclusion in her quilt. It will be the world’s best "get well" card for her – one she can take to the hospital and cuddle. With this quilt, she’ll have all of you with her before she goes into surgery and you’ll all be there for her when she is out and beginning the healing process. Shall we do this for her?
Dr. William Harrison’s quilt
I estimate the cost of putting the quilt together at $5/message. If you can contribute toward this, here is a PayPal link (or email me for a snail mail address if you prefer to send a check). If you cannot contribute, please leave a message anyway. This is a community effort and someone else will cover for you!
