Hey folks. At this point it's highly likely that you've been hearing about a heart-racing event at the Discovery Channel building in Silver Spring, Maryland involving hostages and a gunman.
Now, it should be noted that Maryland is very regulatory on guns. So let's take care of informing you now instead of having to wade through comment after comment of the same knee-jerk stuff down below.
Maryland has a 7 day waiting period for handguns. No private sales allowed, everything goes through a Federally Licensed Firearm Dealer, nicknamed FFL. Fill out an application, pay the fee, wait during the background check for either rejection or for time to expire, then pick up your personal protection tool. And you can't purchase more than one every 30 days. Even further, MD regulates by law what personal protection hand tools are and are not legal in the state. The state bans every handgun by default and then specifically allows individual models of handgun to be on the market.
If you're going to rank states by how regulatory they are on firearms, in my opinion Maryland only comes in second after New Jersey, but it's a neck and neck race. In either state you effectively need to be powerful, connected, or rich to get permission to protect yourself.
Sounds like it could be really close to Gun Control Heaven, right? Well, in the manner of Keith O I hereby declare this to be

And that's a gym-junkie! The great majority of men aren't that fit, let alone the women. Women need to use their heads, so it's a damn good thing that...
And

Obviously there are reasonable honest reasons for folks to carry. But, that's while out walking around. Except the two places most folks spend time is now Home and Work. If something unpleasant is going to occur, odds are it's going to be one of those two places.
The thing to remember is that HUMAN LIFE IS WORTH DEFENDING!
I'm not saying to try and clear out any attackers from a building, just that if someone hears shots going off, they ought to be able to defend a retreat from the gunfire and be able to cover the retreat of others who have chosen to be defenseless. Because it is very progressive to be our brother's and sister's keeper.
And while you're saving your own ass, be a supergood progressive and remember the truly defenseless, who don't even have opposable thumbs:
Because:
