You probably know Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ. If you don't, he's Jan Brewers good buddy in the ongoing battle against the Forces of Evil invading from Mexico. In fact, Sheriff Joe was in the fight long before Jan Brewer decided xenophobia was a political necessity.
Per First Read, the DoJ has sued Arpaio for not cooperating with a civil rights investigation.
But today, the Justice Department said it's been trying to get the sheriff's cooperation for more than a year without success. Thirty years. Since Reagan was elected President, no local law enforcement agency has refused to cooperate.

Quote from the Tuscon Times:
But Arpaio has changed course in recent weeks, implying that his office is trying to cooperate with federal civil-rights investigators.
"Can’t they wait another week?" Arpaio asked. "Why can’t they give us a little more time."
"I thought we were really close to getting this thing resolved.
