It's fun to criticize Obama. It's fun to say that this is not the change we voted for. It would be great if he had done more in the year and a half he's been in office. I wish Gitmo were shut, I wish DADT was history, I wish ENDA was the law ..... and so on.
Well, why haven't those things been done?
Is it because of Obama? Nope.
Is it because of blue dogs? Nope (although it's closer).
It's because of Republicans. They are the real enemy.

[Update [2010-9-6 21:57:53 by plf515]:] I see this has degenerated, in some of the threads, but it's still on the rec list, so I'm guessing most people here agree with my sentiments.
UPDATE I'm headed for bed.
The real enemy is not Obama. Can you look at his Senate record, and his life prior to that, and say he does not what most of what most of us want? I don't think you can sensibly say that.
The real enemy is not even blue dogs. Most blue dogs are in districts that voted for McCain; some by wide margins.
The real enemy is the Republican party. It's Bush and Cheney and Rove, still. It's McCain and Palin and Angle and all the lunatics they regard as heroes.
Remember when W and the Republicans were in power? Yeah. I know you do.
But do you remember what this site was like (that is, up until the primary wars)? We were pretty darn united! We were powerful! And the site was energizing.
Well, we still can be. The enemy hasn't changed. Obama did not become a bad person when he got elected. It's just that now he's got a Congress to deal with; and now he's got a population to deal with. A population that did NOT give him a landslide, but, rather, an average size win. A population where 46% voted for a doddering old man and an ignorant buffoon, following the worst POTUS in history.
I propose that, for the next 8 weeks at least, we concentrate our scorn on the real enemy: The Republican party and everyone who supports them.
