Unreal! Time to contact your Senators, people! I know it's late in the day, but a few phone calls letting your Senators know that stopping corporate polluters from wrecking America is a GOOD THING doesn't hurt.

Sources on and off Capitol Hill are expecting the Senate Appropriations Committee to vote on an amendment to undercut Environmental Protection Agency climate change regulations when it marks up the agency’s annual spending bill.

Such an amendment has a serious chance of passing given widespread backing on the issue from Republicans and moderate Democrats — so much so that environmentalists were asking committee leaders to punt on the markup entirely.

More below the fold, and a call to action

In the same year when BP caused the worst environmental disaster in US history, this shouldn't even be a consideration in a Democratically controlled Senate. Massey Energy had a huge disaster too, in case we have forgotten. And that is just what we see on the surface. The last thing we need is a gutted EPA!

Now, for those who remember Sen. Murkowski's resolution to gut the EPA from earlier this year, the following won't be a surprise. A similar amendment died in committee in the house on a 7-7 tied vote. In my opinion, it is imperative that we call and email Democratic Senators to let them know that we NEED the EPA, especially when the next BP oilpacolypse might be just around the corner! Hell, despite the hype, the BP oilpacolypse hasn't exactly gone away, has it?

Proof that bipartisanship is just a word for when they are BOTH fucking you. . . .

Several other senators are in position to offer an EPA-related amendment in Murkowski’s place, such as longtime agency critic Kit Bond (R-Mo.) and Democratic Sens. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Senate sources said Monday.

Landrieu was an original co-sponsor of Murkowski’s EPA resolution. And Dorgan and Nelson have signed onto Democratic Sen. John Rockefeller’s bill to halt the EPA regulations for two years. Typically, amendments offered on appropriations bills affect agency matters only for the fiscal year the spending measure is for, so it’s unclear how senators will try to address the climate regulations.

Way to go, Senator Rockefellar! Halting EPA regulations for 2 years is a great idea, FOR ME TO POOP ON!

We need to get in the ear of our representatives in the House of Corporate Lords Senate. Tell them we JUST SAW BP WRECK OUR ENVIRONMENT, the last thing we need is a gutted EPA!

Contact your Senator RIGHT NOW with this link

And tell your Senator we NEED a capable, well funded EPA! It's not like there's been a shortage of oil spills or coal mining accidents in 2010! And there is no guarantee that there won't be any more accidents next year.

Time for some action, guys and gals! So who is with me?

Peace to you and yours . . .

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
