In President Obama's weekly address today, he cried out against the corporate special interest groups spending tens of millions of dollars in September and October to defeat Democratic Candidates on November 2nd. Fine, but are we just supposed to "take the high road" and be "holier than thou" on this? Are you telling me that President Obama is going to follow in John Kerry's footsteps by not fighting fire with fire?
Where are the George Soros and other billionaires that are supposed to be on OUR side. Could President Obama and our Democratic leaders foolishly have advised them to stay out of these 2010 elections?
If we keep the House and Senate with enough Moderate and Liberal Democrats after November's election to end the filibuster in 2011, and then pass legislation overturning Citizens United v FEC, then all is well. But there is simply too much at stake to leave that prospect to chance.
It is the height of stupidity to allow Republican backers to inundate the airwaves with TV ads, radio ads and phone calls attacking our candidates without unleashing our own army or super-rich backers to attack Republican candidates as powerfully and ruthlessly.
If we lose the House and/or the Senate on November 2nd, or even if we keep both chambers but with such weak numbers that we will be unable to pass important legislation in 2011, and risk losing the White House in 2012, we will have only ourselves to blame.
It is stupid and evil to allow oneself to be attacked when one can effectively defend oneself by simply fighting back. Even President Obama said while campaigning in 2008 that if his opponent brought a knife to a fight, he would bring a gun. Well, there are corporate knives all around us now Mr. President. Where are our guns?
It's time for us to call upon OUR Big Money to fight back against Republican Big Money. There's more than enough time between now and Election Day to launch a MASSIVE counter attack that will result not only in our winning November's election, but in making it clear to EVERYONE that the Citizen's United ruling is a dangerous assault on our democracy that we cannot and will not let stand.
Let's get busy on this NOW and DEMAND that President Obama and our Democratic Leaders let lose the full power of OUR BIG MONEY on Republican Candidates!
