Please rec Shanikka's excellant diary.

Yesterday, the 10.2.10 March on Washington was front page news on DailyKos.

I missed it, as I hang around the diary section.  I assumed others may have missed it, too.  Meteor Blades is 100% correct when he writes:

No single demonstration, no matter how large, just as no single election, no matter how successful, can change all the wrongheaded policies plaguing our nation, nor even fully redirect us onto the right path. But that's okay, because the 10-2-10 demonstration isn't an end, it's a beginning.

The rally will be a huge success.  I have put in a request for the event details, and will post them as soon as I receive them.

And the weather will be great.  70 degrees, partly cloudy, 10% chance of rain:

Check this link for weather:

To be televised:

For those who cannot attend in DC or a local event, we do know that  Thom Hartmann and Laura Flanders will provide television broadcast will include main stage speeches, interviews with organizers and analysts and reporting from the crowd. It will air nationally from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time on DISH Network channel 9415, DIRECTV channel 348 and numerous cable stations across the country.

When we began this adventure a few weeks ago, many had never heard about One Nation Working Together or the 10.2.10 March on Washington.

If it hadn't been for a blip on CNN, I would have missed it.  ONWT hardly had a website, and google searches produced underwhelming hits.

Google "One Nation Working Together" today, nets over 500,000 hits.

Google "10.2.10 March" today, nets over 31,000 hits, that's up from a little more than 7,000 a couple of weeks ago.

SO, PLEASE, everyone here that has tweeted, twittered, facebooked, commented on other blogs/media outlets, emailed, written a diary, told a friend, and/or helped to spread the word,

THANK YOU from every American in this country who stands for fairness and decency for ALL.

With no reservations, I will share that the enthusiasm of this community and the phone calls and pressure we exerted, truly did make a difference on the success of this March/Rally.

I have spent a good amount of time popping into the google hits to find comments from this community all over the place.

And we must have socked Ed Schultz with emails, because he let us know on Friday when he said "Yes, I get your emails".

UNITED we each have more power.  We are proving this again.

And to the many who sponsored others to go, thank you for your generosity.  If you are either looking for or want to sponsor, you still can here:  10.2.10 Sponsor a Marcher, by DiegoUK.

Oh, don't forget to submit your name on the Net Neutrality petition.

We will all be coming into town at different times.  And there will be a large crowd.

So here's what is suggested:

Frank Cornish and Hopefull are putting together a meet up, so let them know if you are interested.

I will be hanging around Union Station Friday night, if you are in the area, you are welcome to join my friends and me at 8:00PM.  It will be an early night.  Long day on Saturday, and all that.

I am so pleased that One Nation Working Together must have worked around the clock to get their website improved.

Truly, you can find all the information you need there.  Just click the pic in the intro and check out the pull down menus beneath the links that appear.

I would love to hear your reasons for attending this soon to be historic march.  So, if you have a moment, please drop a comment and share your reasons and hopes.

I will start off here:

I am marching to launch my life long commitment to work hard and diligently with anyone and everyone who will stand up side by side with everyone, to end the divisiveness in this country.  I know enough history to know that what we see isn't new or even creative.  It's the same old crap that has been going on since the beginning of the 20th Century.  It's actually a 1920-1935 freaking rerun!

This is the last stand.  If we lose this, our children and grandchildren will live in a Dickens inspired life, grueling, cruel, and unjust.

It is why I believe my generation came here.  To take this stand.  We now have the time and the money to help inspire our children and grandchildren to stand up and NEVER let this country slip so close to a proto-fascist state again.

Fairness for all.  Our children get this.  Sadly, they are at risk of being brainwashed.

We can stop this, if we are willing to take the risks and support each other in the same ways that our grandparents did when they stood up and demanded

End to Child Labor
40 Hour work week
Public Education
Social Security
Unemployment Insurance
Safe working conditions

Our grand and great grand parents gave their lives so that they and future generations would have better working conditions and not have to live in a totalitarian, fascist governed country.

We must have this courage, too.  And I believe we do.  We have compassion and empathy for those who have, are, and will suffer if we do not stand up and resist the direction this country, and the world, is going.

We gained ground in the 1960s, and lost ground in the 1970's, and in the 1980s we were intimidated, mesmerized by success, and hoodwinked in the 1990's when the neo-liberals unravelled our financial protections.  We spent so much helping our kids get anchored, only to watch our economy melt down. And while we dedicated ourselves to launching our children, we lost so many of our rights.  Even Posse Comitatus was weakened.   We can end this insecurity.  And we must.

Under one banner:  One Nation Working Together

Here's some details for those who have missed this before.  Again, the click the pic link in the intro provides all you need to know:

Action Request 1:

Please email Keith, Rachel, Jon and Stephen.  And sent a thank you note to Ed.  Here's their email addresses:

Action Request 2:

Will you write a diary if you see there isn't one posted.  Please begin the title with 10.2.10 March.  By doing this, more google search results show up.  And, if there is at least one 10.2.10 March diary on the list of 50 diaries at all times, those who still haven't heard of it will have a chance.  Thank you.

Action Request 3:

Please help spread the word about the 10.2.10 March on Washington to any/all you know in DC.  People there haven't heard about this.  The media in DC is crickets.

Here is something I have been doing.

Did you know you can sign up for the Washington Post for free  AND leave comments?  You can.  While you're there drop a comment into Chris Cilliza's The Fix column (I got a few in, but now they are monitoring comments, but try anyway), and any other WaPo article that allows comments.

Here's the comment I added to this article Palin hits Obama, GOP establishment in Iowa speech this morning.  I then copy and pasted it to Chris Cilizza's The Fix.  Here's my standard letter, if it's too long from some comment sites, I reduce it:

VoiceofReason wrote:

If you want to stand up, united in purpose, for progressive policies, just show up.

If we don't show up, democracy is weakened.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:

Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
