I know this isn't a true diary but I would be interested in reading some of the excellent posters take on the potential replacement of Harry Reid.
Assuming the latest trend indicates we maintain control of the Senate but Harry Reid loses his re-election bid in Nevada, who then would become the Senate Majority Leader and how would that change the political outlook for the next session? There have been many on this site who have complained that Harry Reid hasn't been aggressive enough, that his style is both an advantage and a disadvantage and he sometimes lack the ability to reign in the votes on key issues.
Given the possibility of a Republican House and a new leader in the Democratic Senate I think it would be a great diary for those that have the experience to provide perspective. I do not and thus the request. Will this be someone to contrast a potential Boehner in the House? How will the two separate agendas of a Republican controlled house and Democratic controlled Senate result in actual legislation being passed that Obama will sign? Even if Reid survives does he keep his leadership role and if so how will that affect the ability to govern with a Republican House? Needless to say it can get very interesting in the next cycle!
I know some will say it's too early to predict and that hypothetical analysis is useless. That being said I read it everyday so don't post remarks saying as much. I also don't need the "diary police" to tell me this doesn't qualify as a diary...most of the posts here don't but the reading and thought provoking posts make for interesting dialogue.
I come to this site daily for in depth reviews of key issues but I have not found very much on how the Democratic Party will govern with the possibility of both leaders of Congress changing in this election cycle.
Great site and keep up the awesome work!
