If I didn't know any better I be like too many Americans and would believe the national republicans care about regular non-wealth Americans but...
... upon a closer examination of republican attitudes and policies we can come to understand that they care only for people that already have money and the corporations.
The national republican party pretends to be for the working people of America...
...but here's plenty of proof of just the opposite.
Thanks to the major media and republican attack ads many Americans
just don't know the truth about how dangerous republicans are and have been to
our standard of living.
#1: Why are they helping American companies outsource our jobs??
During the Bush2 administration, Republicans in congress along with
President Bush passed tax code legislation actually helping
American companies outsource our jobs overseas.
They gave tax breaks to companies that encouraged them to outsource our
jobs.
Dems have repealed most of the breaks and when the dems propose
legislation to encourage companies to stay here or return, who opposes
the legislation?
The republicans.
#2: Why do they fight against basic consumer protections??
Because of their underling economic philosophy of "hands off" republicans
will not protect Americans from rougue companies that seek
to rip-off Americans while taking our money.
Examples are the health insurance, credit card and student loan
industries.
All three of these industries have treated Americans like surfs but the
democrats have passed legislation that severely curbs and eliminates
the major abuses of American families by these three industries.
Republicans have fought the dems every step of the way on all three issues
with the excuse of government should not interfere in the free market.
#3: Why do they fight against un-employment insurance??
At a time when millions of Americans are out of work due to this
republican inspired great recession, republicans have consistently
voted against extending American families a helping hand.
Even when all reputable economic studies have shown that it's much better
economically, for the nation to extend unemployment benefits rather
than allow American families to drown, losing homes etc., - guess who
fights lending
down on their luck Americans a helping hand?
In the past, when the nation has gone through a recession, both
parties have voted to extend benefits at least until the unemployment
rate dips below a certain threshold.
This is the greatest downturn since the great depression but
this time, republicans always have said no way - it costs too much
money.
BTW...
Numerous republicans have made very nasty and unnecessary comments
regarding unemployed Americans with one republican senator even
suggesting that the unemployed should be drug tested.
#4: Why are they working hard to undermine all of our social safety nets?
Numerous republicans have made comments that social security and
medicare benefits should be cut or eliminated altogether.
Without these two federal government programs, most of our
elderly with not retire in dignity.
But republican want to dismantle them.
Social security has saved millions of our elderly from a life
of poverty and it does not cost this nation a dime.
BTW...
#5: Republicans policies have lead this nation into two great
and historic economic downturns that have seriously hurt
millions of families in the process.
The first was the great depression of the 1930's and now they've given
us the great recession of 2008.
Republicans have a horrible economic track record.
#6: No national investments:
With the republican attitudes of we can't afford it so there's no need
to make any national investments - and/or...
...government shouldn't meddle in trying to fix our economy...
... how can any clear thinking American expect them to lead us out of
this mess we're in? The mess they pushed us in.
Republicans seem to be happy with a new America.
- A country in which unemployment hovers at 15-20% forever.
- A country in which we fall behind all the other developed counties in
all of the standard of living indicators.
When we once lead the world.
- A country where with a ever shrinking middle class where we
used to be the first middle class nation in history.
- A country in which parents will not expect their children to do better
than they have done but before that was the norm.
- A country in which more and more of our elderly retire in poverty and
less and less of our children can afford to go to and graduate from
college.
- A country that used to be the envy of the world - but not any more.
- A country where corporations run roughshood over the American
people and do whatever they want to us.
Bottom line...
With a kaleidoscope of anti-middle class attitudes that produce anti-middle class policies, the national republicans deserve to be shown
the door far away from our national discourse.
We need to simply tell them to leave us the hell alone.
No matter what the republican attack ads and the major media says...
I have presented plenty of proof that national republicans don't
really give a hoot about ordinary Americans so we shouldn't give a
hoot about them.
Why bother voting republican in the midterms of 2010?
