A new poll released last evening has us leading Rand Paul by two points -- 49% to 47%.
As The Washington Post put it: We’re "surging."
The good poll news is no coincidence. We went on offense, and it's clear our strategy is working.
I haven't backed down from taking the fight to Rand Paul, and I will not back down. But I need your help over these next two weeks.
Here's what it means to stay on offense:
When Rand said we should impose a new $2,000 Medicare deductible our seniors can't afford, we didn't sit on our hands -- we went on the offensive. Rand Paul has been forced to run three ads and spend a huge amount of money denying he ever said it, despite the fact we have him doing it on video at least half a dozen times.
When a woman told GQ Magazine that Paul "blindfolded me, tied me up... told me their God was 'Aqua Buddha,'" we went on the offensive with our new ad. Now he's refusing to even shake my hand, but he still has not explained his actions.
And when Rand said Social Security -- the best program for seniors and workers in American history -- was unconstitutional, we went on the offensive with the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) to protect Social Security from privatization and efforts to raise the retirement age.
That's what staying on offense is, and when Democrats do it, we win.
Help us keep Rand Paul on the defensive and join us in the fight over the next two weeks.
Thank you -- I look forward to reading your comments!
UPDATE: Thank you to the PCCC for leading the charge to protect Social Security! They just put out this video:
