Who says bipartisanship is dead? Via The Hill, the Sun Herald reports:
Taylor, who said he prefers House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton, D-Mo., for speaker, touts his conservative credentials and said he supported Pelosi because she promised to back his Katrina-driven insurance legislation expanding the federal flood program to include wind coverage.
Taylor said he voted for Republican John McCain for president and is annoyed a Palazzo ad blasts the Mississippi congressman for voting with Pelosi 82 percent of the time. He likes to emphasize the times he’s broken with the leadership on major votes, such as health care and cap-and-trade. Taylor is often viewed as a potential party-switcher; asked about switching to the GOP, he said, “Both parties are screwed up. They’re screwed up in different ways.”
I love how in the process of claiming his conservative, anti-Pelosi, pro-Palin credentials, even Gene Taylor brags about how he delivered federal aid to his district. How very teapartyish of him.
