Huffington post has a huge red large headline screaming "IS HE TRYING TO LOSE THE MIDTERMS?" along with a darkened picture of President Obama with a resigned expression on his face. First of all, President Obama is not even on the ballot, but I'll concede that he is the defacto leader of the Democratic party, so he has a real investment in the outcome of the elections.
But that's not even what I'm upset about. When you click on the headline, you would expect the article to be about the projections for the house/senate and things related to the upcoming November 2nd elections.
However, the article has NOTHING to do with the midterms. Instead, it has it's own headline "MORE AGGRESSIVE ANTI-FORECLOSURE EFFORTS WOULD HELP PEOPLE WHO DON'T DESERVE IT." The first two paragraphs in the article is this:
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama defended his administration's beleaguered foreclosure-prevention initiatives on Wednesday by arguing that more aggressive steps to assist homeowners might help people who don't deserve to be helped.
Asked if his administration had done enough to stem the foreclosure crisis, Obama opted not to address the foreclosure fraud scandal that has forced banks to temporarily halt home repossessions across the country. Instead, he claimed that the government's efforts had stabilized the housing market, and argued that the "biggest challenge" was to make sure speculators and deadbeats didn't take advantage of the government's help.
Do you see anything remotely related to the mid-terms in the headline or the first two paragraphs of the article? So why is the front page headline about Obama trying to lose the midterms? Where exactly did that come from? Are they trying to set up a "blame Obama" narrative if Democrats lose the midterms?
I don't know about you, but I feel that site is toxic to Democrats and to the administration. The MSNBC news show hosts who insist on bringing Ms. Huffington as a "progressive" voice on their show need to explain what exactly about this woman and her site that leads them to think she is progressive or has progressive interests.
