Here is my open request for creative types to help develop web advertisement content which could help sway some undecided or independently minded voters and which we can post on the social-networking site.
I believe that we could use the free tools on the web more rigorously to push for progressive and independent voters to vote democratic. Apart from the economic cost of the time each advertisement would require to put together and also post on the various outlets, the final cost will be negligible and I think that as grassroots activist we can take these tools and add to the volume of positive reinforcements needs to create a surprise headline result come Tuesday night – a Truman beats Dewey moment. Oh how I wish to see the bashful faces of the pundits as the result begin rolling in an people see that the Democrats have retained both the House and Senate
We all know that often times, the work of amateurs is much appreciated by the general masses than that of the professionals. I also know that there are a lot of people on this and other liberal forums who are very creative and can drive the point home better than these beltway hired hands and more so because we are the people in contact with regular folks and face the challenges on the ballot. Unfortunately my own skills of creating video content are not that up to the standard and I can only visualize my thoughts but it is not easy for me to put this into action. Here are a few examples of a the kind of advertisement I would need help with for those who are so inclined
What happens in the last few days will have a bearing on what the final drive the of momentum for final votes and the few people whose minds still need to be decided or who are persuadable.
Please help create a video which students could use to ask their friends and family members and the nation at large to consider the implication of their vote.
Students’ final pleas for voter sanity: Students should make a video to appeal to their parents, aunties, grandparents and older family members and friends to consider their vote as a vote for the nation’s future. Here is the content of the advertisement.
• Video content should be initially hosted at a (website or Face Book page etc) which could be entitled "American Students’ Final Plea for Voter Sanity" or even a better title. It is this which could be linked to as the initial source and the space where others could be added
• Content should be made by students from different states and different colleges and they should be by them speaking directly into the camera asking the older voters to consider the consequence of their vote and what this would be for the future of young people. It would be helpful if the students wore school/college jerseys or other material which announce that : I am student at --- college and I am talking to you American voters
• Some of the arguments could be :
i. You prefer candidates who are promoting the outsourcing if our jobs to China;
ii. If you vote for the republicans you are voting away the future of America and choosing the prosperity of our competitors in China – it is that simple because in opposing investment in clean energy and promoting out-sourcing, you are placing competitive advantage in the hands of China;
iii. You are considering voting for people who turned an economic surplus into a deficit and have spent the last 20 months opposing ANY efforts to address the economic mess their policies left behind so they could gain political advantage in the election. Would you reward a person who stood by as the community burned down and just cheered for it to burn faster so that they could gain political advantage;
iv. You are considering voting for a candidate who does not believe in educating young people as a priority;
v. You are considering voting for candidates who do not believe in science and technology yet the whole world is competing to be first in science and technology;
vi. You are putting the future of those you care about in candidates who use the national diversity to create hate and division among the population – diversity is our strength;
vii. You would vote for candidates whose supporters attack a woman for having the opposing political view
viii.
Please help any way you can
