The Candidates Forum at Netroots Nation 2010 was held in one corner of the exhibit hall. A small crowd of 75-100 people had stayed late to watch instead of heading off for dinner as most folks had. Even among such a capable and promising group one candidate struck me as a real standout, Scott McAdams. After the Forum ended I had the pleasure to talk with Scott McAdams.
When I wrote my diary about Murkowski's primary defeat touting Scott McAdams some comments expressed doubts that McAdams had what to took to win this race. When the DSCC decided to pass on helping Scott McAdams' campaign in September, I was so disappointed that I flagged the DSCC emails I was getting as junk mail.
Back on Oct. 12th Kos wrote this story urging Democrats to support Scott McAdams in a race that offered a low risk high reward opportunity for a pickup in the Senate.
AK-Sen/Gov: Split GOP gives Dems legit pickup opportunity
...In other words, the Democrats can win this seat if they come home to their excellent candidate.
Then yesterday the DSCC...
In Alaska, Miller uses 'Yes, We Can' against Murkowski
First Read reported yesterday that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is going up on air hitting Murkowski. Today, showing his sense of humor, Scott McAdams, who is 6-3, 350 pounds, is running a print ad saying he's twice the man Miller is, and three or four times the man Lisa Murkowski is.
McAdams has limited resources. As of Oct. 13, he had $273,000 cash on hand. With the DSCC going in, and Alaska being a relatively inexpensive state to advertise in, Democrats hope he can surge. The outcome of this race, though, probably won't be known on Election Night, because of the way Alaska counts write-in votes. All the polls close at 1 am ET (most close at midnight ET). So it's going to be a late night.
The DSCC has finally realized that this is a winnable race in Alaska, and that a modest amount of resources really do go a long way in Alaska's media market.
4 days before the election is a little late, but better late than never.

Here's the new Miller "Yes we can!" ad:
No Joe you're wrong.
Yes Scott McAdams Can!

Not Joe Miller

Late Breaking Update:
Fight over write-in lists in Alaska race heads to federal court
Reporting from Seattle —The fight over whether Alaska voters will be offered lists of write-in candidates for U.S. Senate moved Saturday to federal court, where former conservative talk show host Eddie Burke and four other citizens said handing out the lists violates the federal Voting Rights Act.
