- The House is being disproportionately blamed for the Senate's failures.
- The way to fight messes the special interests created is not to compromise with the special interests themselves.
- Nancy Pelosi didn't deserve this, but Harry Reid did, and all it did was get him re-elected.
- Latinos are absolutely without a question saving the US Senate for us tonight.
- The West is so not lost to us in 2012.
- We're not gonna get the House seats back that we lost in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida probably ever. The Senate is another story.
- Jim Webb, Claire McCaskill, Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey and many others are probably very very nervous tonight. And they should be.
- The GOP might have a lousy coalition that is dying long-term, but the fact that they are the party of capital is going to keep them viable longer than they should be.
- The tea party might have fucked over the GOP in the Senate, but it won them the House, so watch out for the spin that said the tea party lost them the Senate. The tea party is like fire in a bad economy - it's bright, but it can burn you. And soon enough, they will burn John Boehner and Eric Cantor real bad.
- The fight between progressives and centrists in the Democratic party is going to be worse than it ever has been, partly because the progressives are actually winning in the long-term aspect of the struggle.
And a BONUS!!! #11: AB 32 is still intact in California. The fight to contain climate change marches on in a bigger way than many can understand. That law will someday be like HCR in Massachusetts - a seed that will bear a great fruit for our nation.
I really hope you guys focus on #10 there. We're going to get a lot of shit in the coming days. None of it is deserved. The Democratic majority that is long in coming is STILL there. It's just too young to lead at the moment.
