Earlier today, I made an offensive and reactive remark in response to Cenk Uygur's rec'd diary. I was wrong to insult our community. My disagreement is directed at thos who profit from fomenting disappointment and division in our ranks. Want to know why our people didn't flood the polling booths? – Look in the mirror. I'm angry, we are all angry.
Kicking, screaming, whining and moaning are very satisfying; because they're easy. Governing is hard.
It's especially hard, when a bought-out media and your supposed base, use disappointments and perceived slights to dump on an otherwise impressive record of achievements.
Pushing forward for month after endless month, against a permanent filibuster that made kings out of the worst slime in the Democratic Senate is hard. Talking about bi-partisanship isn't an appeal to Republicans; it's an appeal to the egos of the Nelsons and Liebermans of the world, who have (and use) the power to water down and destroy our best proposals.
We got Elizabeth Warren as our Consumer Protection Advocate! Cried about wanting her for months – celebrated for a day.
The President campaigned hard during this election. Trumpeting his achievements and clarifying the facts about the Congress we lost. Did you see it on TV? Did anyone other than Blackwaterdog ever mention the facts that he shared, or does emotion trump reality?
Is President Obama perfect? Absolutely not. There are many issues that require a level of boldness or theater, that he seems unable to deliver. There are trade-offs, compromises, deals and concessions that revolted and sickened me.
I'll tell you this much, though. Based on what I have seen from this community, he's a lot better than we are
