New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has recently ratcheted up his blow-hard attitude against everything democratic and pointed his grubby finger at New Jersey teachers claiming that they should not be entitled to tenure, and that the system is abominable.
I have no problem with a state governor wanting the teachers in his state to perform at the top of their profession. Our children deserve no less than that. However, Governor Christie's methods to achieve just about all of his goals are ridiculous, and in my opinion, no less than sickening.
For instance, he claims that there is no other profession where the employee can do a lousy job, but after (he) is tenured, he cannot be removed for any action other than a criminal offense. Of course, this
is not the case, and all teachers are subject to the disciplinary process as provided by the teacher's contract, but when was a republican ever known to get the information completely right, anyway.
Well, we searched, and searched, and we found a similar type of position. New Jersey Governor! You see, the governor has his or her job for four (4) years and cannot be removed from office during that period for any reason other than misdemeanors while in office (impeachment), or "the inability to discharge the duties of the office" which, I believe is severe illness, or death.
So, if the Governor of New Jersey wants to change the tenure of New Jersey teachers, I suggest that the Constitution be changed as follows:
Section III should be changed to read:
The Governor and all other State officers, while in office and for two years thereafter, shall be liable to impeachment for misdemeanor committed and doing a lousy job as determined by the voters during their respective continuance in office.
Now, why would someone who lives in Pennsylvania care about what is going on across the river in the great state of New Jersey? Because PA just voted in our own governor/blowhard who has vowed to run the state like his mentor, Governor Christie. Therefore, if Governor-elect Corbett tries the same shenanigans as Governor Christie, I suggest a change in the PA Constitution.
