Another day, another right-wing terrorist exposed. Welcome to your new Tea Party, America.
Insane right-wing radio host Joyce Kaufman has announced she won't become chief of staff for conservative Congressman-elect Allen West. West, a Republican and favorite of the tea party movement, easily defeated Democrat incumbent Rep. Ron Klein on Nov. 2. The race was among the nation's most expensive and drew national attention.
Apparently, Kaufman's calls for using "bullets" if "ballots" don't work, has gotten some traction down in Florida...
Earlier this week, Kaufman was hired as conservative Congressman-elect Allen West's new chief of staff. Her qualifications for that job:
An afternoon host on WFTL-AM 850 for nearly 20 years, Kaufman has made dozens of comments against immigrants:
◦In August 2007, when discussing illegal immigrants, she said on her show, "If you commit a crime while you’re here, we should hang you and send your body back to where you came from, and your family should pay for it."
◦She became infuriated at illegal immigration after she called Comcast and the recording said, "Press 2 for Spanish."
◦She said at a rally, with West standing by, "Calling illegal immigrants ‘undocumented workers’ is like calling a drug dealer a pharmacist without a license." She was furious that children of illegal immigrants were educated in public schools and received health care at emergency rooms. "There are people who want to change your way of life, and some of them may be your gardeners," she said.
Her anger is not limited to illegal immigrants. "There’s no way I’m going to live in a country that’s been radically Muslim-ized ... and I’m not afraid to say it," she said at a protest in Jupiter. She also said at the protest that the United States was "this close" to moving towards "fascistic and tyrannical rule." At the American Freedom Tour in Fort Lauderdale, she wore a T-shirt that said "PROUD MEMBER OF THE ANGRY MOB AND I VOTE," with the "O" in "MOB" a crossed-out Obama logo.
But now...she's calling it quits:
Radio host Joyce Kaufman, whose comments may have triggered a threat against Broward County schools, has announced she won't become chief of staff for conservative Congressman-elect Allen West. Meanwhile the phone call warning of the attack that led to a three-hour lockdown has been traced to a caller outside South Florida, Pembroke Pines Police said Thursday.
Kaufman said she didn't want to tarnish West's reputation.
``I will not be used in an electronic lynching by proxy,'' Kaufman said Thursday.
Police said the call that came into WFTL 850 AM was made by a woman from outside South Florida, who said her husband was planning to carry out a mass shooting in Broward County.
Apparently, the terrorist threatening to shoot children at school's and government buildings had been inspired to do so after seeing Kaufman in a tape played on Rachel Maddow's Show a few night's ago.
From WSVN Florida:
Meanwhile, investigators are closing in on the person who made the threats that led to the countywide lockdown on Wednesday. Federal officials located that person of interest, who lives outside the Tri-County area, Thursday morning. The FBI, who have taken over the investigation, have said he is not cooperating, however.
Police said that soon after MSNBC aired the clip featuring Kaufman, WFTL received an email that stated, in part: "I'm planning something big around the government building here in Broward County, maybe a post office, maybe even a school."
According to sources close to the investigation into that threat, which forced the county-wide lockdown of Broward schools, libraries and other government buildings, the person who sent the email was motivated by hearing Kaufman's words on Maddow's show.
Adding to the concern over the threat, police said, shortly after the email was sent, the Pompano Beach radio station received a phone call from a woman who said her husband might go to a school and open fire with a gun. "[She] claimed that her husband was going to respond to a school in Pembroke Pines and start shooting," said Pembroke Pines Police Captain Dan Rakofsky.
However, Kaufman's earlier excuse, apparently before news broke that the terrorist had made threats inspired by her, was that she would be quitting because of all the fuss made over her remarks by the evil media:
Joyce Kaufman has decided not to become Allen West’s chief of staff in the wake of a series of news media reports about controversial statements she has made, including the Caucus report below.
Ms. Kaufman announced the decision during her radio show Thursday. In a statement on the WFTL-AM radio web site, she writes: "Last night I called Congressman-elect Allen West and told him I would not be able to accept the position of chief of staff for Congressional District 22."
As we all know, this type of thing is nothing new, and is happening with increasing frequency, spurred on by the Glenn Becks and Rush Limbaughs of the world. And what we know is equally true is that not a single Republican will call these insane terrorists and their sponsors onto the carpet for it.
