If Glenn Beck crops off half of a George Soros quote and claims it means the reverse of what the Soros people claim it means, what is that? What kind of journalism is that? What kind of ethics are those at work here.
This diary has transcripts and full videos that inescapably prove what we already know, and that is that Glenn Beck frankly should not be allowed on television.
Let's please understand that George Soros is a major supporter of President Obama, and that's why Glenn Beck and Fox News programing are going after him. What you're seeing is nothing less than the beginning of a campaign to make sure that Barack Obama loses the 2012 presidential election. This is about nothing less than the future of progressive America, and the survival of the working class American dream.
Here's the truth plain and simple, Glenn Beck who is the best known Tea Party supporter is going after George Soros who just happens to be a major supporter of President Obama. To be clear Glenn Beck is doing his part to ensure that Barack Obama is a one term president.
FOX's Glenn Beck:
"This president has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep-seated hatred for white people ... this guy is, I believe, a racist."

Now that we've been reminded of how Glenn Beck feels about President Obama let's take a look at what exactly Glenn Beck is trying to do to prominent Obama supporter Mr George Soros. Briefly on his show on November 11th - Mr Beck relied on a quote made by Mr George Soros, from a 2003 Open Society event made numerous statements, and assertions which is the direct opposite of what the Soros people say that Mr George Soros actually said. They accuse Mr Beck essentially of cropping off Mr Soros's quote to say something that he never intended to say.
The simple truth is at this point my personal disdain for Mr Beck prevents me from editorializing further. I'm therefore posting complete video and transcripts below, and will let them speak for themselves, except to say that in my humble opinion Mr Beck does not belong on television.
November 11th The Glenn Beck show aired by Fox news:
(Beck)
I want you to know and remember this — in the last three episodes, I'm not making claims. I'm not asking questions. I'm not telling you statements of fact. What I'm telling you is watch George Soros in his own words.
Where is the country headed? George Soros:
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The question is what we need and whether Mr. Soros and his foundations can help to bring more foreign influence into the United States instead of relying on what is essentially a balance between Democrats and conservative Republicans.
GEORGE SOROS, BILLIONAIRE/FINANCIER: I think you put your finger on a very important flaw in the current world order, and that is that only Americans have a vote in Congress. And yet, it is the United States that basically determines policy for the world. That is a flaw in the current set up.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BECK: It's a problem for him that people in China and France don't get to vote. Find out who sits in Congress. Is it for you?
You need to make a choice. Mr. Soros has made his choice. I have made mine. Tonight you decide.

By clicking on the picture below you will be taken to a link of the Open Society Institute. The link takes you to a C-Span website. I watched the full video there, not just the quote aired by Mr Beck. Although for anyone who doesn't have time to watch the whole video you can fast forward 49 minutes ahead to reach the exact spot of the Soros quote that Glenn Beck employs.
For anyone who is not able to watch the video here is a transcript below of the full quote in question in the video.
QUESTIONER: My name is Lee Retiener, and sir, it seems to me four options have arisen today, only one of which is new and hasn't been spoken of yet. Your option of creating a new community of democracies, which in a sense is pronouncing the U.N. a little bit dead [...] The second is improving the United Nations. Its failures -- I don't mean in the Security Council but over the past 20 years and through the dominance of the Group of 77 and the new world economic order -- gave Wolfowitz the right, the power, and the philosophical justification, and those like him, to do what he has now done. That's part of the answer to the question that was asked earlier. So improving the United Nations, which is a long-sought-after goal, is one to which great effort would have to be given. But there's another way, which would be entirely unconstitutional, but I advance it not for the sake of humor, but only to help thought -- which is to create a third branch of Congress for foreign governments only. Proportionate representation in the United States Congress so that the Chinese can legitimately give money, so that Israel can give us money --
[unintelligible]
The question is whether we need and whether Mr. Soros and his foundations can help to bring more foreign influence into the United States instead of relying on what is essentially a balance between Democrats and conservative Republicans, which hasn't worked and is not about to start working.
SOROS: Look, I think -- I think you put your finger on a very important flaw in the current world order, and that is that only Americans have a vote in Congress. And yet, it is the United States that basically determines policy for the world. That is a flaw in the current setup. I don't think you can correct it by giving the Chinese government a vote in Congress. But it is a flaw, and I think this is where American leadership is needed, to take into account and respect the interests of others as well, in order to retain the dominant position we currently enjoy.
Media Matters Quote below:
Beck deceptively edited clip to reverse meaning of Soros' statement
Soros opposed having foreign citizens vote for Congress, instead calling for "American leadership" to "take into account and respect the interests of others." During the session, Soros was asked whether he supported establishing "a third branch of Congress for foreign governments only." Beck aired the portion of Soros' answer in which Soros called it 'a very important flaw in the current world order" that "only Americans have a vote in Congress," even though the United States "basically determines policy for the world."

It's time to defend prominent Obama supporter George Soros against Glenn Beck! It's time to start supporting Obama in order to win in 2012.Please help us to defend Soros. He has done so much for us. Now it's our turn to do something for him form the grass roots.
I'd like to offer a quote from Manfred Heningson, a German political scientist who commented on Glenn Beck's activities in the German magazine Der Spiegel. For a mainstream German magazine to publish something like this really should be setting off alarm bells in mainstream America.
"Agitators like Glenn Beck are "nationalist, racist and proto-fascist," says Henningsen. They take advantage of the economic situation, almost the way the right wing intelligentsia did back in the Weimar Republic."
