Andy Harris (R-MD-01) is now--pathetic to say--my congressional representative. He's a typically stupid, selfish, venal, arrogant Republican who is hatefully hard on others while being hypocritically soft on himself.
Why don't Democrats have the guts to use the clip of him--in which he whines that he can't get his hand on the government-subsidized heath-care he campaigned against fast enough--as the defining image of Republicans?
UPDATE: Sorry. There is no audio or video clip of my MAJORLY IGNORANT, HYPOCRITICAL, SELFISH, BAD-WILLED soon-to-be congressional representative demanding his government health care right now. Too bad. We'll have to wait a few more days to get him on camera saying something outrageously mean-spirited and self-aggrandizing. (Harris is a bit more circumspect than his fellow Maryland Republican, Michael Steele, who can't even seem to remember from moment to moment the outrageous bullsh*t he spouts.)
The moral vacuum he lives in is the essence of modern Republicanism. Many years ago I might have met some so-called "moderate" Republicans, and I thought they lived in la-la land then. But today all Republicans live a morally debased, nearly vicious life. I don't think there is a single decent Republican left. If there was such people, they would have to wonder, for at least a second, whether their beliefs weren't somehow flawed; and the instant such a doubt entered their minds, they would be unable to stop reality from refuting everything they believe. But with FOX News and the right-wing media echo-chamber and the MSM predilection for right-wing narratives, no Republican ever has to confront the despicable effects of their sordid ethical emptiness. Conservatism, which was always a fear-based ideology, has now become simply an evil ideology. It's impulses are vile, and the policy bullsh*t that spews from those vile impulses is downright malevolent toward everyone but the upper 2% of income-makers.
Why is it impossible to start a concerted campaign of moral outrage against conservatism and Republicanism? Why can't all elected Democrats--now the de facto representatives of the remaining decent citizens of the nation--simply stop treating these moral cretins like they deserve respect? Every word out of their mouths should always be turned away out of hand with condescension and with some remark like, "Well, what can you expect from people who don't understand the first thing about decent moral behavior?"
No one will follow Democrats until they stop pretending that Republicans are partners in governance. Republicans don't care about governance, and everything they ever say about it is pure bullsh*t. That's why you can't get them to answer two questions in succession without contradicting themselves. Everything sentence they utter (if they are capable of uttering sentences, which is not a strong suit of the currently most popular Republicans) is designed merely to bullsh*t morons who can't process ideas. And, of course, taking advantage of morons is immoral as well--but that doesn't register with people whose souls are dead to virtue.
Democrats have all the facts and all the evidence on their side. There is no reason to listen to Republican bullsh*t anymore, and every reason to start dismissing them as moral degenerates, just have they have dismissed liberals for thirty years now--and with no possible justification, because liberalism is morally superior to conservatism in regard to prudence, to justice, to courage, to temperance, to compassion, to fiscal and governmental responsibility, and every other category of virtue that can be imagined.
If I could reach all elected Democratic officials, the one thing I'd like to get them to do is ALWAYS TREAT REPUBLICAN BULLSH*T WITH THE UTTER CONTEMPT IT DESERVES, POINTING OUT THE MORAL DEGENERACY THAT LIES BEHIND EVERY WORD REPUBLICANS UTTER. Maybe the truth could have a slight chance of sinking in if there were some sort of counternarrative to the prevailing conservative-friendly bullsh*t that Americans have to breathe each and every day.
