Without discounting the seriousness of the situation we Americans are currently in, I'm getting a bit exhausted at the expectations of many Kossacks here who think Obama is some kind of dictator who can bend the other two branches to his (and our) sole will and make them behave in just the way we want to.
Barack Obama is our President, and last time I looked, this is a representative democracy, not a dictatorship. And contrary to popular belief, he IS leading, and he IS standing up for the middle class and workers in America.
Video clip at the flip.
From Whitehouse.gov link to YouTube video:
President Obama and Vice President point to the resurgence of the American auto industry as an example of leading the country into economic recovery as they visit the Chrysler Indiana Transmission Plant in Kokomo, IN. November 23, 2010.
All's I'm saying is: don't give up hope yet, as hard as it might be.
President Obama will fight for us, but we need to be willing to stand up and fight for what we believe in as well. "Push me," he once said to all of us when he asked us to tell him what we wanted him and the country to do.
Well, let's do just that and fight, because gods know the pissants in the Tea Party do enough of that on their side of the aisle.
UPDATE: Thanks, all, for the recs and conversation. :) I have to hop off the Internets for the night--it's 1 a.m. EDT and I've still got packing to do before we head out of town for the holidays. If you celebrate it, hope everyone here has a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.
And remember, pies are for eating, not for throwing--especially the pecan ones. ;)
