In an article from the 23rd of November....
WikiLeaks announced on Twitter yesterday afternoon: ''Next release is 7x the size of the Iraq War Logs. Intense pressure over it for months.''
And the US government is going into control/freak out mode.
Much of the major Canadian press is running with this story.....
The U.S. government has notified Ottawa that the WikiLeakswebsite is preparing to release sensitive U.S. diplomatic files that could damage American relations with allies around the world.
U.S. officials say the documents may contain accounts of compromising conversations with political dissidents and friendly politicians as well as activities that could result in the expulsion of U.S. diplomats from foreign postings.
Australia:
The policy wonks in the US State Department are busy trawling through 3 million secret diplomatic cables they’ve sent over the past couple of years searching for the undiplomatic ones.
Wikileaks is about to dump the cables onto the internet in a bid to either spread public knowledge and freedom, or undermine the Western democracies, depending on your view.
According to a email from the US Legal Affairs department to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees - "State Department cables by their nature contain everyday analysis and candid assessments’. This translates as ‘We might have called President Karzai bonkers’ or some such thing. It went on to state that Wikileaks is again being ‘irresponsible’ and might be jeopardizing lives.
"This translates as ‘We might have called President Karzai bonkers’ or some such thing....."
I have a feeling that they are not scrambling because someone called a world leader something like bonkers or a doodyhead. How about you?
And if that is actually true, then it sounds like notes being passed at school.
What else could be in the massive leak that has been alluded to?
According to "sources familiar with the State Department cables held by WikiLeaks," the imminent document dump will include reports from US diplomats on corruption within foreign governments and among world leaders.
Reuters reports that governments in Europe and Asia feature prominently in the document release, with Russia and Afghanistan being mentioned by name. However, there were no specifics reported as to the nature of the corruption allegations or which governments are involved.
Aha! Most inconvenient.
Corrupt? Government? Say it ain't so!
What could the fallout be?

In another twist that has been going on behind the scenes, Sweden has issued an International arrest warrant against Julian Assange.
Sweden issued an international arrest warrant for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange last week, several months after the country launched, then dropped, then launched again an investigation into claims by two women that Assange sexually assaulted them.
If you would like to follow all the articles about this, then look at the Wikileaks twitter feed.
Rape is a most serious allegation, and should be taken as such. First and foremost.
We shall see how this comes out. It has been quite a bizarre road to an International arrest order.
This all started back in August, when the charges were dropped.
In an interview in the Expressen newspaper, which broke the story, duty prosecutor Maria Haljebo Kjellstrand said that she "did not regret her decision".
The two women who originally made the claims did not make an official complaint and it was the police who took the decision to inform the prosecutors office, she said.
"I received a report from the police which seemed to me to be sufficient to arrest him. On Friday evening I got a call from the police describing what the women said. The information I received was convincing enough for me to take my decision," Hljebo Kjellstrand was quoted as saying.
Sliming is coming from all sides.
There is a battle within Sweden about arrest and conviction rates for rape, even the definition of "rape" itself, and these issues are being pounced on by Racists and Islamophobes and used to promote their own hateful agenda's.
In the meanwhile, the latest round of documents are set to be released. US Diplomatic departments are squirming.
And the public face of Wikileaks, is probably somewhere in the UK waiting out the Swedish authorities attempts to have him hauled in.
Addition: US warns Israel of WikiLeaks release
A senior Israeli official, quoted in Haaretz, said it has been informed that WikiLeaks plans to release hundreds of thousands of diplomatic cables, some of which could include confidential reports from the US embassy in Tel Aviv.
"The Americans said they view the leak very seriously," he told the paper, on condition of anonymity.
"They don't know when they will be released on the Internet and what exactly they say, but they didn't want us to read about it in the newspapers," the Israeli official said.
