It looks like Israel's Mossad was behind a series of assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists, and university professors, that culminated in twin car bomb attacks near Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran this morning that killed one prominent Iranian nuclear scientist and injured another along with both their wives.
Iranian nuclear scientist killed, another injured in Tehran bombings
TEHRAN - A prominent Iranian nuclear scientist was killed Monday and a second was seriously wounded in nearly simultaneous car bomb attacks in the Iranian capital, the semiofficial Fars news agency reported.
The explosions, which took place near Shahid Beheshti University, are the latest in a string of recent assassination attempts in which five doctors and professors have been killed in Tehran.
According to Fars, scientists Majid Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi were parking their cars in separate locations near the university campus about 7:45 a.m. local time when they were attacked.
Witnesses said each car was approached by a group of men on motorcycles, who attached explosives to the vehicles and detonated them seconds later, the news agency reported. Shahriari was killed instantly. Abbasi was wounded. Both men were with their wives, who were wounded as well.
Abbasi is a high-ranking Defense Ministry official who is involved in Iran's nuclear program.
US media portrays murdering Iranian academics is somehow acceptable or expected from the U.S. and Israel but murdering Israelis or Americans for political ends is abhorrent in contrast.
Attack on Iranian nuclear scientists prompts hit squad claims
Both the US and Israel are reported to be conducting covert operations aimed at slowing Iran's nuclear programe, which Tehran insists is for peaceful purposes but which western govern at have a direct bearing in today's headlines about bomb attacks in Tehran. This comes from a cable describing a meeting between U.S. officials and Meir Dagan the head of Israel's Mossad spy agency discussing Iran.

(S) Dagan described how the Israeli strategy consists of
five pillars:
B) Covert Measures: Dagan and the Under Secretary agreed not
to discuss this approach in the larger group setting.
E) Force Regime Change: Dagan said that more should be done
to foment regime change in Iran, possibly with the support of
student democracy movements, and ethnic groups (e.g., Azeris,
Kurds, Baluchs) opposed to the ruling regime.
This cable confirms a Mossad covert campaign that could very well include today's Tehran bombings were a part of the Mossad's covert war inside Iran.
In this cable "GOI" is an acronym for the Government of Israel.

The GOI described 2010 as a critical year -- if the Iranians continue
to protect and harden their nuclear sites, it will be more
difficult to target and damage them. Both sides then
discussed the upcoming delivery of GBU-28 bunker busting
bombs to Israel, noting that the transfer should be handled
quietly to avoid any allegations that the USG is helping
Israel prepare for a strike against Iran.
Will Israel Attack Iran By Christmas?
An Israeli attack on Iran could throw open Pandora's Box unleashing a potentially disastrous chain of untended consequences. This is a case were the cure may prove more harmful than the problem.
The United States continues to apply a double standard on terrorism: good for the U.S. ally Israel to use, bad when used against the U.S. or Israel. We are horrified when we are targeted in Portland, but we routinely dismiss murders probably carried out by Israel's Mossad in Iran's largest city. This destroys U.S. credibility on fighting all terrorism no matter what its source.
