WH Talking Points
The proposed Social Security tax cut would apply to virtually every working American.
...
The White House said money from other sources would be shifted so the Social Security trust fund loses no revenue.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
"I guess you’re right on the economics. They are politics all the way through. We put those pay roll contributions there so as to give the contributors a legal, moral, and political right to collect their pensions and their unemployment benefits. With those taxes in there, no damn politician can ever scrap my social security program. Those taxes aren’t a matter of economics, they’re straight politics."
Everyone here buying the argument that revenue will be shifted back into Social Security from General Revenue are enabling conservative talking points, even if the originated from the White House. Plain and Simple.
President Barack Obama - 2008
"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."
If payroll taxes are increased in one year when the holiday ends, President Obama will be breaking his most visible campaign pledge. Does anyone here actually believe President Obama will go the way of George H.W. Bush and break his pledge?
Does anyone think Grover Norquist and the Club for Growth will allow a Republican House to raise taxes in the middle of an ongoing recession or an ongoing recovery?
Good luck with the plan.
This is nuts folks. We just tried tax cuts as stimulus two years ago. It may have saved us from a depression, but it had almost no impact of long term job growth.
No talking points can put lipstick on this pig. Liberals are like a frog being boiled. The question is when will liberals hop out of the pot.
