It almost seems as if the far left hates rich people with the extreme views that I have read on this blog. I consider myself a left of center person and by no means am I rich. When the arguments come down between a far left socialist and a far right extremist (Senator Sanders and Senator Dement) both saying they would filibuster the President's plan that should tell you something. The truth as it usually does lies somewhere in the middle.
As has been said many times the rich do not trickle down their money. This is the republican failed economic strategy, but at the same time it does require the rich in this country to invest in it so that we the lower classes can have jobs. We can't all live off the government or otherwise what would be - communist.
So why do I support the President? Because he got us one hell of a deal and no one on this side wants to acknowledge it. There are many tax extenders and tax breaks that will be going to small business and middle and lower class Americans. The AMT tax for all those who have bumped up to the upper tax bracket will be fixed. The long awaited Biodiesel tax credit will be passed allowing 25,000 people to go back to work in that industry.
Think hard before you go out against something
the rich are getting 36% of the total of this bill
and remember if we win back seats in 2012 when our economy is booming again we can have this argument then when it will make sense.
What the President should do is challenge the rich tell them to invest in a small business if the tax deal goes through. Ask them not to just sit on their money. He can use the bully pulpit to do this.
The first time I heard the president give that speech at the Democratic convention and he said there are no red states or blue states only purple. He has always lived the life of compromise probably because of his dual identity growing up trying to reconcile his white family with his black culture. He knew the tax cut would expire if we fought this fight and he did not want that burden on the middle and especially the lower class. He did the right thing he compromised and in my opinion came out better on our side than did the Republicans.
So stop whining and back your president who has given you almost all that you want in his first 2 years. And get ready for the next 2 because compromise is the only way things are going to get done in this country.
