It is not surprising that many folks disagree with the policy choices that President Obama has made.
It is surprising to see the ease with which many Progressives seek to demonize the President.
I have seen many diarists attempt to discuss this topic.
Usually, the conversation devolves when the issue of race is brought into the conversation.
But for me, regardless of what is behind the disrespect, irrational vitriol, and mean spirited attacks, there can be no denying that many of President Obama's "supporters" are in fact quite comfortable with treating President Obama as a non-human entity.
And I find that very fascinating and very telling.
It speaks to an irrational thought pattern where all who agree with us are inherently good and all who disagree are inherently bad.
The very same irrational thought pattern put on public display at many tea party rallies since the President has been elected.
Now, you don't have to acknowledge it or even accept that it exists, but the response to the President since he has been elected, on the right and the left, has been anything but typical.
Especially when you consider that we are not ever two full years into his Presidency.
The President (now known officially as "Obama"), is now casually and commonly referred to by his "supporters" on the left as weak, naive, and worthy of being compared to Hitler and Stalin.
And all this from a reality based community we are told.
Many lament that they don't know who "Obama" is anymore.
I feel the same way about many of you.
Note: I notice many comments pointing out that all President's have been referred to by their last names. I am in fact aware of that.
The point that I am making is that "Obama" is being treated with less respect by his "supporters" than previous Democratic Presidents were treated by their supporters.
