Today I saw an article in the Boston Globe about the emerging market for Right Wing children stories.
You can read the article here.
I posted it to my Facebook account and decided to sponsor a contest to see who could come up with the best title for a conservative kid's book.
A few suggestions conservative kids books from my FB page:
"The Elf Union That Stole Christmas"
"Naughty Kids Deserve to Work in Sweatshops"
"How PETA Freed the Reindeer and You Got Socks"
A hip-hop conservative tale called "Hate The Player, Not the Game."
A new book from the series "Jimmy the 4th Grade Libertarian", titled "Smoking and Firearms Are My Choice".
My friend Maggie M. decided to post a poem she wrote about the GOP Christmas of 2010. She is the winner (hands down) - at least of our limited FB version of this game.
So feel free to play along by posting the title of your own right wing children story in the comments section.
And follow me over the fold for Maggie's M's version of the "Twas The Night Before Christmas...."
T'was The Night Before Christmas, GOP Style
By Maggie M. of Ayer, Massachusetts
T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the nation,
the rich folks were whining, bemoaning their station.
When who, to their wondrous eyes should appear?
Dick Cheney, and Palin, and eight dead reindeer.
The carcasses hung on the hummer with care,
knowing that John Boehner soon would be there.
"Christmas came early!" they shouted with glee,
and the rich people ran to look under their tree.
And they saw their whole wish list, indeed it was true
Tax breaks galore, and a killed Dream Act too!
High unemployment, workers in fear,
meant fast growing profits, and a jolly New Year.
A drill bit for Palin from a grateful BP,
a delay for McCain on the DADT...
"What more could we ask for?", said the Right Wing,
when Scott Brown chimed in, "Well there's just one more thing...
If you could spare a few million
for next year's campaign,
I promise to give you all more of the same.
More racist policies on immigration,
more fiscal disparity across the nation."
An RNC member replied, "Well, we'll see.
Those pesky Mass voters have a BIG Christmas tree.
And they seem to believe that Right Wing is wrong,
that investing in workers could make us more strong.
That somehow the middle class needs to be saved,
that schools should be funded and roads should be paved.
Your days there are numbered, but don't worry yet,
you're poised for the national stage, do not fret."
Then Palin and Cheney flew off into the sky,
thanking their donors and waving good bye.
Fox news reported a miracle too...
Turns out that Jesus was never a Jew.
