This is a question to gauge how visitors and users to Dailykos use the website. Given the debate over the recent diary list now being shunted off to the inside page, rather than being on the front page, it's clearly had an impact on how people see and visit Dailykos as a community. Here are some of the comments from kossacks on how they use Dailykos, and what the recent list being on the front page means to them:
Count me in that crowd (140+ / 0-)
FPer's are great. Recommended diaries are great. But the ticker of diaries is what keeps it fresh and gives the community the chance to be a, well, community

yeah, the recent list is for all of our community (20+ / 0-)
the one place where all sub-communities sit down with everyone else. I like the new DK4 features, like groups and streams and following tags, diarists and groups. but that only keeps us in touch with people with like interests, or sub-communities. I am not aware of any feature of DK 4 that has the entire community in one room, so to speak.
The other issue is we are accustomed to "live blogging" that first hour after posting diary. Our recent list is how we get people to our diaries to chat, people from our entire community ready to share different perspectives.
The DK4 stream is a good supplement, but how does that reach sufficient number of people to replace our recent list? I know DK4 has a recent list on the inside page, but it will be rendered rather ineffective by the ability to post unlimited number of diaries.

People started talking in the comments about how they use Dailykos. They say they often come to the front page, to look at the recent list, and then at the recommended diaries, and then to the front page. As for myself personally, I look at the recommended diaries first, then the recent diary list, which I have set at 50 diaries, and then the stories on the front page. That's how I use Dailykos.
So begins my question---how do YOU use Dailykos? What do you look for first when you come to the front page? You can answer in the comments, and also answer the poll questions below. This is your chance to answer the questions about usability that we've all had in cartwrightdale's excellent diary yesterday and today.
