I'm taking a break from all the present wrapping, packing clothes for the holiday travel, and last-minute household duties. I want to write about how much I appreciate and enjoy this community here on Dailykos. So many of you are awesome in the diaries you write, and in turn, I get inspired to write diaries of my own. I've been on Dailykos since 2004, which is a very long six years in internet history. I remember being a lurker when Markos had his first Dailykos website up, and how excited I was when it was being moved to Scoop. Then the community started to form during the Howard Dean for America campaign.
So many of these posters that came onboard around that time are people I still talk to today, and read their diaries. We've been through very tumultuous times in our history--namely the Bush years, a period that I do not want to recall at all, and we're now in the historic years of the first African-American administration. We are literally living through and blogging history as it happens.
Our community is still evolving and forming into distinct voices that come out of the crowd. I love how we support each other, and rally for kossacks that are ill by supporting the great work that Sara R does in her community quilts. We are a community that cares about each other, even if we disagree on policy approaches and tactics. That is what is the best about Dailykos.
We all come together into this one big, room with different perspectives that have been shaped by how we live our lives. There's the ever excellent brooklynbadboy, who I initially disagreed with, but I respect wholly for his opinions. Teacherken is another gem to this community, as is the wonderful nyceve. Dailykos would not be the same without these excellent posters and more of those that I am proud to call my friends and supporters. I want to thank you all for being there, for challenging me, supporting me, arguing with me, debating with me, and even for the different opinions you share with me. They make me think, and I treasure that sort of exposure in this big, one room where all the community is here in one place.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be safe wherever you go, and may your holiday travels bring you back here to this big, wonderful community called Dailykos.
