This new version of Daily Kos may be old hat for many of you, particularly those who spent nearly two months helping our small development team whip this thing up into shape. But for most of you, it's finally time to take the plunge!
Yes, it looks different, and there will be as many opinions about the look of the site as there are registered users. We're an opinionated bunch. It comes with the territory. Yes, there was a reason we did it.
And yes, there's a ton of new functionality -- all of it improving on the Daily Kos experience.
But don't think you need to learn it all NOW, lest you be left by the wayside. This is still the Daily Kos you know and love. There's the recommended list and a solid equivalent to the recent list, just over on the right-hand column. If you want the unvarnished recent diary list, click on "Diaries" on the navigation up above.
That Community Spotlight box above? That's a real-time diary rescue. No need anymore to wait until the end of the day for the rescue crew to do its awesome work.
The comments have been rebuilt from the ground-up, but they look and behave pretty much the same as before.
Those familiar features should help anchor you in the new site. Take as long as you need to get your sea legs. And over time, as you get more and more comfortable with the new digs, start exploring. Click around. Experiment with the various features.
Some new features you'll love, some you'll hate, and some will be "meh". You'll even adjust the way you use the site, as a result. But over time, you'll find that while you may do things differently, the core Daily Kos experience remains. We're about community, education, engagement, and activism. And a new coat of paint and fancy new gears and levers can't ever change that.
p.s. Yes, the site still has bugs, and will for a while. They're getting fixed. And the user interface can still use quite a bit of tinkering. Don't be shy about pointing out site functionality that is confusing to you.
