Well, it's getting very interesting in Wisconsin...Democratic Representatives apparently have literally "walked on Walker" and done an Elvis by leaving the chamber(pot) and the building.
Let's see how much longer the MSM can obey their corporate owners and keep a lid on the news jar at the "company store" regarding the practice of opposition democracy via protest in the US.
The Democratic members of the WI State Legislature just walked out to deprive the GOP majority of a quorum for tonight's vote on the union busting bill.
And Gov. Walker is siccing the cops on them to haul them back.
According to TPM sources :
A Democratic source in Wisconsin has confirmed to TPMDC that, in the heated budget battle going on in that state, the minority state Senate Democratic caucus walked out within the last few hours -- which would deprive the legislature of the three-fifths majority needed for a quorum on budgetary matters. And if this goes on, the GOP leaders could call in the State Patrol.
The source has confirmed that the chamber is conducting a quorum call, and no Democrats are present. There are 33 total members of the chamber, 19 Republicans to 14 Democrats, with 20 members required under the state Constitution to be present in order to pass the budget.
Meanwhile, in the land of GOP "Let's Play Chicken at 190 mph Head on Against the Working Class," Head Chicken and all-around "Koch-fight-type" Gov. Walker has upped the ante. He is rumored to be seriously considering calling out the State Police to drag the self-absenting Democratic congress-critters back to the State Capitol Building.
Fro WisPolitics.com:
Senate session begins amid Dem walk-out
In protest of the budget repair bill that will strip public union workers of almost all of their collective bargaining rights, Senate Democrats walked away from a floor session.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Dems are refusing to come to the floor to debate and vote on the bill.
Fitzgerald said at some point, if needed, Republicans will use the State Patrol to round up Democrats to bring them to the floor.
Senate President Mike Ellis is calling the roll, but no Dems are present.
As TPM points out, the Republican oligarchic "ole boi" network is in play like a jai lai match on meth here.
Consider this:
"The state Senate leader and the Assembly Speaker are brothers -- and the new head of the State Patrol is their father."
However, if Democratic State Representatives flee the borders of Wisconsin, they can elude the jurisdiction of the nepotism-despotism of a State Police action.
Expect a Wisconsin Democratic Rep coming to a Motel 6 near you soon...and if you see one in your state, invite them to your house for sanctuary...might seed democratic direct action all over the country.
Stranger things than all this have happened. Just not in Wisconsin lately.
May we live (and prevail) in these "interesting times."
UPDATE ONE:
As elwior posted below...by-pass the press...make your own news...see what's happening first hand in the streets, in your neighborhood, to your neighbors/friends/family. Use your own voice to "narrowcast" what you know to who you know.
And while you have that window open to see for yourself that we don't "need a weatherman to know the way the wind blows", you might also take that opportunity to take a deep breath of fresh air and shout...
UPDATE TWO:
Thank you, pathman , for posting a link to a petition for Early Recall of WI Gov. Walker.
