That is the problem. I've heard no one arguing that point. Why are healthcare costs rising when most of the treatments have been around for years? Why is an insurance based system the only solution to an insurance based problem? Why are the Republicans supporting something that is not based on supply and demand? Why is Obama suggesting the public option to lower costs when a true free market would be better? Why is medical technology the only technology that keeps going up in price no matter how long that tech has been around?
If I had food insurance, I would not look at food prices at the grocery store, I would just look to see if the grocery store took my insurance. The grocery store wouldn't care what price it charged you as long as it was covered by your insurance. That is not a market based on supply and demand. Also , why is technology making things cheaper in this world except for medical technology? Why is that? Why does a trip to the peditrician cost an arm and a leg when all they do is the same shit they did 20 years ago? Why is the same shit they did 20 years ago so expensive? When was the last time someone called a doctor to find out how much it cost to come in for a visit? Why isn't anyone looking at it this way? Why are we trying to fix a insurance based system with solutions that are insuranced based?
The other night on the Rachel Maddow Show Claire McCaskill mentioned that she thought the EXISTING free market healthcare system was the best for America. Why didn't Rachel call her on it? Does Rachel think that the existing system is "free market"? Until we get rid of insurance prices will never increase at the cost of inflation.
