Another long, exhausting, exhilerating, incredible day on the streets of Madison, Wisconsin today.
To all my fellow Badgers: LET'S KEEP GOING FORWARD! I have a feeling the bad weather predicted for tomorrow will dampen things down a bit. If so, it's a good day for us all to get together with our friends and neighbors to (1) congratulate one another for being engaged citizens and helping to awaken the nation (2) talk over what we've learned this week (3) discuss where we need to go and what the strategy for the the next day -- week -- month -- year -- election cyclye -- needs to be. Let's figure out how to channel this awesome energy in the most effective way.
Then let's get ready for Monday!
And in the meantime, here were some of my favorites signs from the day.
You can see this one here in Electablog's top recommended diary:
Support Walker + I'm With Stupid
It was so fun watching those two walking along, leaving a trail of laughter behind them.
Then there were the many ones reading:
Viva le Cheddar Revolution
On fellow had a sign reading "I have a sign!" On the other side....
So this is what anal sex feels like
No comment.
Another very popular one:
Aaron Rodgers in a Union Worker
A sweet older woman sat quietly along with this one:
Wisconsin Milk Does A Body Good. Tea makes You Wee.
On the same theme:
This is a Cheese Party, Not a Tea Party!
One that was widely posted on walls and lampposts:
Dread Scott
When you have so many teachers in the crowd, you get great signs:
The Whole World Is Watching This Social Studies Class
Nice in its simplicity:
United We Bargain, Divided We Beg
Ironic commentary on our great Fighting Bob LaFollette:
Slighting Bob LaFollette
The Koch Brothers were much on people's minds:
Driving That Train, High On Kochaine
Speaking of trains....
High Speed Fail
A sweet little girl carried this one:
Too Intelligent to Believe Republican Lies
A rather sullen-looking 15-year-old boy had this one:
I may not like my teachers, but they certainly don't deserve this!
And one of the weirder ones, from the Tea Party compound. If its from our side, its deeply satiric, in a very understated way. If its from their side and authentic, it captures the deepest level of our contemporary tragedy -- and maybe even suggests a starting point for civil discussion of the damn mess that this governor doesn't want to solve, but aims to exacerbate:
Public Workers Must Suffer Like the Rest of Us
Thanks again to all my Wisconsin neighbors who made this such an amazing and historic day. To everyone else out there: Let's spread this prairie fire! Get out there in your capitol buildings and in your towns and cities and let's build this movement together!!
