There is a diary currently on the rec list describing how the Republican Senators in Wisconsin could do an end run around the fugitive Democratic Senators and pass a bill doing away with collective bargaining by attaching it to a non budget bill, thereby eliminating the need for a quorum. According to Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo the Republican Senate Majority Leader has now ruled that out.
This is very good news, folks. It would seem that some Republican Senators are unwilling to go along with Walker's scorched earth tactics. as Josh says
his clear ruling out of such an option seems to leave the standoff in place, with no clear option for Walker absent some agreement with the Democrats.
There are some cracks in the Republican facade, and the Dems are standing strong. I'm beginning to have hope.
