I only found one diary with 9 comments plugging this website so I think it would be useful to post another and explain why getting a commitment from WI voters now is so important.
A concerned citizen from Appleton, WI has launched a website, http://www.unitedwisconsin.com/ to collected pledges to recall Scott Walker. I'll let his mission speak for itself:
United Wisconsin is for Wisconsin residents to sign a pledge to recall Scott Walker. Since we can not distribute the actual petitions until 11/3/11, United Wisconsin is asking people to sign a pledge for recall as we will only have 60 days to collect 540,206 signatures. This database will be essential for a successful recall.
Why is this important? According to Wisconsin law the recall petitions cannot be submitted until January 3rd, 2012. We cannot begin collecting signatures until 60 days from that date, or November 3rd, 2011. Anyone excited about the prospect of collecting 540,206 signatures in the middle of a Wisconsin winter?
I'm sure this is obvious, but we have anger and momentum now and this is a great way to channel it. Wouldn't it be great if we had 540,206+ commitments to recall Governor Walker well before November 3rd, 2011? Pledging now is also a great foot-in-the-door technique to raise the probability that an individual will sign a recall petition later. Unlike an online petition this database will have names and contact information for Wisconsinites only and will significantly reduce the amount of work the recall effort has to do in those short 60 days.
So if you are a Wisconsinite please sign the pledge and send it on to as many people as you can. If you know a Wisconsinite who may not follow the news online every day please send them a link to the pledge. Check out the facebook group
"Governor Walker's recall a forgone conclusion" - Let's make that headline a reality.
