I am someone who supported then-candidate Obama for President from the time he announced in January 2007 through the election in November 2008. I am still an ardent supporter and have the utmost respect for him. I believe he has done many very good things in the 26 months he has been President.
However, like many others, I have also been deeply disappointed by some of his actions or inactions. I am disappointed by his unwillingness to take a risk, by what I see as his lack of boldness and leadership on many issues and his reaching out to Republicans too much in my opinion. Maybe when he was elected my hopes and expectations were too high. In many ways he has ignored those who worked the hardest to elect him.
Contrast that style with that of Governor Walker. He has been in office for two months and has done the heavy lifting for those who elected him - mainly the Koch brothers, Karl Rove, corporations and the Chamber of Commerce. I believe he has broken the law passing an illegal bill, has shown he is a pathological liar and bully and has acted as a dictator. However he got the job done that he was elected to do. He broke the unions (temporarily), has cut public education and has given huge tax breaks to his corporate buddies.
Which style is better? I would say without a doubt that the Obama style is better. While he may frustrate us from time to time, he is the adult in the room, as opposed to being a bully. He realizes that he is President of all the people, not just those who elected him and from watching this contrasting style, my respect for him has grown even more.
