Well, you learn something new every day. State Rep. Virgil Peck, R-Tyro, he's just this guy, you know? He's not only the elected official, but he speaks like a man of his people, or so he says.
“I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person,” he said.
What was he speaking about? Here you go:

After one of the committee members talked about a program that uses hunters in helicopters to shoot wild swine, Peck suggested that may be a way to control illegal immigration.
Ah, he was just joking! See, people in southeast Kansas, they make racist jokes about shooting brown people from helicopters all the time! No reason to apologize for this.
The Lawrence Journal World reports that Peck refused to apologize for the remark. “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person,” he said.
See, they joke about this all the time. Heck, maybe he can get Sarah Palin and they can go shoot anyone they think might be an illegal and hunt them down like wolves!
I mean, come on, it's just a joke about slaughtering people who might be here illegally!
What a joker.
Then I got to thinking about it. Peck is actually quite the advocate for Native Americans, because here he is suggesting that anyone in Kansas should be able to hop on in a helicopter and shoot someone who is taking land and jobs illegally!
Imagine his shock when he realizes that the hunter has just become the hunted.
Of course, I am just joking, Kansas totally wasn't settled by a massive land grab from a group of foreign nationals breaking all sorts of treaties illegally immigrating into a known nation-state.
That would just be ridiculous.
It's just a laughing matter to snipe brown people from a helicopter, just a giggle they like to have in southeast Kansas. Just an ice breaker they tell in Wichita board meetings, like at Koch Industries. Nothing to see here.
He said he didn't expect any further controversy over his comment. "I think it's over," he said.
Comedy gold.
