Today, a memorial service was held to memoralise those that were killed and those that are still suffering in the Christchurch earthquake almost a month ago.
A two minute silence has just taken place. Before that 14 minutes of footage from the central business district was shown... the damage that a lot of people have not seen. It was shown in complete silence. 100,000 people just sat there stunned.
Before that the rescue workers entered to a standing ovation. National heroes.
The Mayor of Christchurch just finished speaking...
Red and Black are the colours of Canterbury.
HRH Prince William of Wales is speaking.
Some of what he said:
Prince William says the response of people in Canterbury has been humbling, an inspiration to all.
''I can't myself extremely privileged to be here.''
Prince William said our thoughts and prayers were also with the people of Japan.
He had heard tales of extraordinary bravery and courage.
''Kia kaha, be strong,'' he said to end his speech.
Prince William says the Queen sends her heartfelt condolences.
"My grandma once said that grief is the price we pay for love. Here today we love and grieve."
Both Prince Willam and the Prime Minister of NZ, John Key mentioned Japan and sent their thoughts and love to them in their hour of need just as they send help to us in our hour of need.

Prime Minister John Key says the Christchurch quake has left ''scars on our hearts''.
''Above all we remember those whose lives were taken. There is no justification for their deaths. We must join their families and loved ones in remembering them.
''Our hearts go out particularly to their children, friends and family.
''We do not know the pain you do, but we are here for you.''
Key said we were united with people from 20 countries who had loved ones killed.
''Your family members have become part of the story of this city and the country.''
''Let us remember them, they are the faces of a Christchurch that will never be the same again.''
Hayley Westenra, who was born and raised in Christchurch, is now singing Amazing Grace.
This young man plays the bagpipes every morning outside of where the Civil Defence Headquarters in situated in Christchurch. He will playing at the service.
